Freddie Gibbs e Madlib - Una grande coppia

Freddie Gibbs e Madlib
sono due artisti americani molto noti e capaci, in special modo il secondo: vi
scrivo per portare alla vostra attenzione i brani ai quali hanno lavorato in
coppia, se mai ve li foste persi (grande errore!). Sapete, io ho scoperto la
loro collaborazione con “Thuggin’”,
guardando il video sul tubo e rimanendo a bocca aperta. Freddie, a me al tempo
proprio sconosciuto, viaggia davvero molto bene sulla base di Beat Konducta; ed ascoltare la versione strumentale
dell’appena citata traccia permette di comprendere al meglio anche il livello
prettamente musicale. Aggiungeteci “Deep”
(anch’essa con relativa strumentale), due
bonus beats (strumentali, che fanno da interlude in pratica), ed ecco che
salta fuori Thuggin’ EP, primo lavoro che li coinvolge ufficialmente. 

Facendo uso della medesima
struttura (Vocal track + Instrumental + Bonus
beats) e proponendo un livello musicale altrettanto alto, viene confezionato
anche Shame EP: qui la traccia che dà il titolo al lavoro fa da
introduzione, con la collaborazione (l’unica in entrambi gli EP) di BJ The Chicago Kid al microfono che, quasi come una voce campionata
(prima mia impressione), si piazza sul ritornello e rende il brano ancor più
prezioso. In Shame EP trovate anche la traccia “Terrorist”, ed i “soliti” due bonus beat. Ad incorniciare il tutto
ed a far risaltare le abilità in fatto di liriche e flow di Freddie Gibbs, in
questo secondo lavoro troviamo anche le
acapella di “Shame” e “Terrorist”.

Cos’altro aggiungere, in totale si
parla circa 30 minuti totali di
musica da non farsi sfuggire, chiunque ha sempre seguito Madlib e Freddie Gibbs
resterà difficilmente deluso vista l’oggettiva grandezza proposta. Per
introdurvi agli EP consiglio l’ascolto proprio delle tracce che gli danno i

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib are american very able and well-known artists, especially
the second one: I write to bring to your attention the songs produced in couple
by them, in the case in which you don’t know already these (biiig mistake!). I
discovered their feature through “Thuggin’”,
watching the video on YT e remaining dumbfounded. Freddie, unknown to me at the
time, goes very well on Beat Konducta’s beat; and listen to the instrumental version
of the track permits to understand as well also the music level. Add to this
one “Deep” (also this one with his
instrumental), two bonus beats (like interludes), and you’ve achieved Thuggin’
EP, first official release of the duo.

Using exactly this structure (Vocal track + Instrumental + Bonus beats)
and proposing an artistic level as much as same, it’s ready also Shame
EP: here the track that gives the title to the project works as
introduction, with the feature on the mic (the only one on both of EP) of BJ The Chicago Kid; who, like a sampled voice (my first impression during the
listening), stays on refrain and keeps very high the song. In Shame EP you
find also the track “Terrorist”, and
the two “usual” bonus beats. To frame everything and underline Freddie Gibbs’
lyrics and flow skills, there are also the acapellas of “Shame” and “Terrorist”.

What can I still speak? Totally we’ve 30
minutes of real and deep music, that must be listened to; anybody who have
always followed Madlib and Freddie will remain difficultly disappointed. For
introduce yourself to the EPs I advise you to start just with tracks that give
